The Joint Security Area (JSA) called Panmunjom is under the joint control of the UNC and North Korea-China.
Geographically, the JSA occupies a portion of both South Korea and North Korea. However, guests of the UNC shall not enter the portion of the JSA controlled by North Korea-China except for the MAC conference hall.
In the same manner, guests of North Korea-China shall not enter the portion of the JSA controlled by the UNC except for the MAC conference hall.
The UNC Advance Camp is the barrack of UNC guards and the start point and end point of all the JSA tour programs organized by the UNC.
A typical JSA tour takes about 90 minutes and has 2 parts. |
First, all visitors should attend a 30-minute briefing at Camp Bonifas.
Second, visitors should tour the selected area within the JSA by car or on foot.
There are 3 types of tours: Regular Tour, Tour for ‘Distinguished Guests’ and ‘Special’ Tour. And the tour for distinguished guests and the special tour take precedence over the regular tour in terms of scheduling.

Tour for Distinguished Guests
Distinguished quests refer to the Chief of the protocol office of USFK, Korean Army liaison officers, the UNCMAC, the US Embassy, the UNCMAC chief officers and their agents, etc, and their tour takes precedence over the regular tour and the special tour.
Special Tour
Special tours take priority over regular tours. Eligible for special tours are Korean government officials, foreign embassy officials, guests of foreign liaison officers, family members of distinguished guests, and others who are approved by the UNCMAC chief officers or their agents.
Regular Tour
Regular tours are for people, whose identification has been confirmed but who are not eligible for the tour for distinguished guests or for the special tour. |
