Panmungak is a symbolic building that represents North Korea in JSA-Panmunjom.
Panmungak of North Korea was first built on September 2, 1969 and it¡¯s located about 80m north of South Korean Freedom House. The building serves as offices for North Korean guards in JSA as well as waiting rooms for representatives for armistice talks or inter-Korean dialogues. It is also used to hold propaganda activities against South Korea such as ¡°8.15 Pan-Korean Convention¡± every 15th of August. Panmunjom had not been open to the North Korean public until 1964, 12 years after the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement.
